Time is money in agriculture, so you obviously want to be getting the best performance and least downtime from your agricultural machinery like tractors, harvesters, planters and more. A good maintenance routine is essential in the agriculture industry to ensure you get the best value out of your machinery.

The process that will significantly extend the life of your machinery is obviously rust protection and regular grease lubricant applications. With a proper grease routine, your agricultural machinery will run as intended for a long, long time.

Read on to discover all the ways INOX products can be used on tractors and similar agricultural machinery. INOX is a farmer’s best friend, so if you already know and love INOX’s range of greases and lubricants (like our white oil MX3 formula or our lithium complex grease MX8), find your nearest retailer by clicking this link!

Check Your Owner’s Manual First

The tractor is one of the most useful and most worked machines on the farm. No matter if you’ve just picked up a new, top of the range tractor or are still using the ‘old reliable’, you’ll want to take the best care of it – this includes following a consistent maintenance and greasing schedule.

To properly grease your tractor, you first need to know what areas need to be greased. Since model features can vary, it’s always wise to consult your owner’s manual for a breakdown of all your zerk points.

Importance Of Using Grease On Your Tractor

There are a lot more moving parts on a tractor than there are on cars or even a 4×4 drive. That means there are a lot more areas that need to be greased regularly. Our INOX-MX8 Extreme Pressure Grease offers the longest-lasting protection available and is specially designed to handle the harsh Australian weather, making it perfect for Aussies and the toughest option for other countries with more tame environments.

Clean Up First

Before maintaining your tractor with premium Australian INOX products, ensure you’re getting the best results by wiping down the target area and removing any debris, dirt, or old grease/lubricant before applying a new coating.

Nuts & Bolts – LANOX-MX4
LANOX-MX4 gives protection from moisture and corrosion and stops nuts, bolts and parts from seizing up, making them easier to undo the next time around.

To apply, simply spray LANOX-MX4 on an unscrewed nut or bolt before attaching it back onto the tractor. If you cannot remove it, simply spray an ample covering of LANOX onto the nut or bolt, and the penetrating lanolin lubricant will still have a beneficial effect on the target by protecting it from corrosions while also preventing it from seizing. The lanolin-based lubricant creates a protective barrier between the metal and the elements while also never gunking up or being washed out.

Joints – INOX-MX3, LANOX-MX4 or INOX-MX5
Lubricating your joints is as simple as applying a good covering of INOX-MX3 white oil lubricant or LANOX-MX4 lanolin formula. These spray lubricant products are ideal for lubricating ball joints and other moving joints on your tractor.

For high friction or extreme pressure areas, we recommend INOX-MX5 for maximum lubrication duration. Farm machinery endures extreme work conditions, but INOX-MX5 PTFE Lubricant is the ultimate formula for high-load, high-speed areas.

Electrical Systems – INOX-MX3
INOX-MX3 protects electrical systems, spray into switches, light fittings, starter motors, generators, alternators, regulators and wiring to stop moisture and corrosion.

To apply, simply cover your electrical systems (while powered off) with a sufficient coating of INOX-MX3 white oil grease, so no spots are left uncovered.

Linkages – INOX-MX3
INOX-MX3 lubricates linkages, control cables, hinges and locks. Apply an ample coating of INOX-MX3 white oil lubricant to the link arms and hitch points to protect them from rust and deterioration and prevent grating/grinding.

Bearings – INOX-MX8
INOX-MX8 Extreme Industrial-grade grease is the perfect farm machinery grease, especially those used in Australian or similar conditions. The durable farming grease is compatible with all grease guns and is a favourite wheel bearing grease/standard bearing grease for Australian and international farmers alike. INOX-MX8 is available in both 450g standard Australian cartridge, and the sought after 400grm cartridge. Simply apply the INOX-MX8 bearing grease into your grease gun and apply it as recommended in your tractor’s operation manual. The grease lubricant can be used on:

  • All wheel bearings
  • PTO couplings and splines
  • Chain drives and sprockets
  • Winches and cables
  • Windmill bushes and shafts
  • Overhead and elbow gears in shearing sheds
  • Pump motors
  • Pins, linkage points, ball joints, universal joints, control cables on tractors, harvesters, all farm machinery and equipment

Other Grease Fittings – INOX-MX8
Your tractor owner’s manual should break down all the zerk lubrication points on your agricultural equipment. Grease fittings serve as lubrication points for bearing housings or other mechanical components. It should also break down the greases and lubricant systems that are compatible. INOX-MX8 is a lithium complex grease which means it holds together remarkably well under high pressures.

Application breakdown

  • Add INOX-MX8 Lithium Grease to the cartridge gun
  • Clean grease fitting
  • Attach hose of grease to fitting and pump until adequate grease is applied

You will likely find grease fittings on steering components, brake and clutch linkages, as well as three-point pivot points.

Loaders – INOX-MX8
If you have a newer loader, then greasing is quite easy. Simply apply INOX-MX8 into your grease gun and apply it to all the grease nipples. We recommend regreasing your loader once a week, or every 2-3 days if it is undergoing intense work.

Body Protection – LANOX-MX4 or INOX-MX3
Spray LANOX-MX4 inside body panels and under the engine cowlings for corrosion and vermin control (INOX-MX3 will keep out mice).

General Protection

Every item in the INOX inventory is a great rust stop product. If you want to protect any stationary or moving part from the elements, we recommend looking into the benefits of INOX-MX3, LANOX-MX4 or INOX-MX5 PTFE Lubricant and applying them for overall corrosion control on all external tractor parts.
