Preparing Your Board for the Competition
Ensuring your skateboard is in top condition is crucial for performing your best. Here are some essential tips to help you get your board ready for the competition:
- Check and Tighten All Hardware: Before heading to the competition, make sure all the nuts and bolts on your skateboard are securely tightened. Loose hardware can affect your performance and increase the risk of accidents. Use a skate tool to tighten your trucks, wheels, and deck hardware.
- Inspect Your Wheels and Bearings: Your wheels and bearings play a significant role in the smoothness and speed of your ride. Check your wheels for any signs of wear and tear, and replace them if necessary. For your bearings, ensure they are clean and well-lubricated. A great tip is to use INOX MX5 to lubricate the roller bearings. This lubricant helps keep them clean and protected, ensuring optimal performance.
- Clean and Protect Your Board: Keeping your skateboard clean not only makes it look good but also extends its lifespan. Use INOX MX3 for cleaning your board and providing overall protection from corrosion. This product is excellent for removing dirt and grime and leaves a protective layer that guards against rust and moisture.
- Check Your Grip Tape: Ensure your grip tape is clean and provides enough traction. If it’s worn out or dirty, consider replacing it or cleaning it with a grip tape cleaner. Good grip tape is essential for maintaining control over your board during tricks and manoeuvres.
- Test Your Trucks: Make sure your trucks are adjusted to your preferred tightness. Loose trucks allow for better turning and are ideal for street skating, while tighter trucks provide more stability for vert skating. Adjust them according to the type of competition you will be participating in.
- Inspect and Lubricate Moving Parts: Pay attention to any moving parts, such as the bushings and pivot cups. Use INOX MX5 to lubricate these areas, ensuring smooth turns and reducing wear. This lubricant also works well on chains, brake, and gear change cables if you are participating in scoot or BMX categories.
- Pack a Repair Kit: Always bring a small repair kit with you to the competition. Include spare hardware, a skate tool, extra bearings, and a needle injection bottle of INOX MX5 and INOX MX3. Being prepared for any minor repairs on the spot can save your day and keep you in the competition.
